Workshop #3: Basics of Korean Natural Farming.

Korean Natural Farming: Exploring the Teachings of Master Cho
In the realm of sustainable and regenerative farming practices, Korean Natural Farming (KNF) has emerged as a revered methodology. Developed by the revolutionary farmer and educator, Master Cho Han-Kyu (Master Cho), KNF focuses on harnessing the power of indigenous microorganisms and natural resources to create a thriving and self-sustaining ecosystem. Master Cho's teachings have revolutionized the field of agriculture by offering a holistic approach that prioritizes balance, harmony, and simplicity.
At the core of KNF lies the belief that healthy soil is the foundation for robust plant growth and overall ecosystem vitality. Master Cho emphasizes the importance of cultivating and nurturing native microorganisms, often referred to as "indigenous microorganisms" or IMOs. These beneficial microbes play a crucial role in enhancing soil fertility, suppressing pathogens, and promoting plant health. The process of cultivating IMOs involves collecting diverse natural ingredients, such as rice bran, fruits, and herbs, and fermenting them to create a beneficial microbe-rich solution.

Some of inputs we will cover are:
LAB (lactic acid bacteria)

FPJ (fermented plant juice)

BRV (brown rice vinegar), .

Course Outline:
This course provides an introduction to the principles and techniques of Korean Natural Farming (KNF), a sustainable and eco-friendly approach to agriculture. Participants will learn the foundation of KNF and how to apply these techniques to enhance soil fertility, improve plant health. The course combines theoretical knowledge with hands-on practical exercises to ensure a comprehensive understanding of KNF methods.

By the end of this course, participants will:

  • Understand the principles and philosophy of Korean Natural Farming.

  • Gain knowledge about soil health and its importance in sustainable agriculture.

  • Learn specific techniques for enhancing soil fertility without relying on chemicals or synthetic inputs.

  • Discover effective methods for disease and pest management using natural strategies.

  • Acquire skills in making and applying various KNF inputs for plant nutrition and soil amendment.

  • Engineer effective microorganism solutions for soil enhancement.
